Teen & Youth Counselling

Kitsilano | Vancouver | Online BC

Navigating adolescence isn't always easy. Whether your teen is struggling with anxiety, stress, friendships, self-esteem, school pressures, emotional overwhelm, or major life changes, we provide a safe and supportive space where they can feel understood, build resilience, and develop the tools they need to thrive.

Supporting Teens Through Life's Challenges

The teen years can be exciting, confusing, overwhelming, and everything in between. As young people navigate increasing independence, changing relationships, academic pressures, social expectations, and questions about who they are, it is common to experience periods of stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional struggle.

At Just Connect Counselling, we understand that behaviour, emotions, and struggles are often a reflection of what is happening beneath the surface. Rather than focusing on "fixing" teens, we work to understand their experiences, strengthen their capacity to cope, and help them feel more connected to themselves and the people who matter most.

Our approach is grounded in attachment theory, neuroscience, and a deep respect for each young person's unique story. We create a warm, non-judgmental environment where teens can feel safe exploring their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and challenges at their own pace. Every young person deserves to feel seen, understood, and supported. Counselling can provide the space and guidance needed to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and connection.

Frequently Asked Questions About Counselling for Youth & Teens

  • We currently support youth and teens 12 years and older using collaborative, conversational approaches and talk therapy. Play therapy is often more appropriate for younger children as they process and navigate their world through play.

  • We recognize that teens do not exist in isolation. While counselling provides a confidential space for young people, meaningful change often happens within the context of relationships.

When appropriate and with consent, we work collaboratively with parents and caregivers to strengthen connection, improve communication, and support the teen's growth both inside and outside of counselling sessions.

  • That’s completely normal. We take a gentle, relational approach to build trust and make counselling feel safe and approachable.

Ultimately, they do have the choice to attend counselling (or not) so we work with them to support their feeling of autonomy in counselling

  • Every teen is unique. Some families notice shifts after a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We work collaboratively to understand the individual goals and needs of teens and families .
