Therapeutic Approach
Julie’s counselling approach is centered on connection and safety. She creates a calm, grounded space where clients feel seen and understood—an essential foundation for healing and growth. Believing that lasting change happens within relationships, both with ourselves and others, Julie helps clients explore emotional patterns, strengthen inner safety, and cultivate self-compassion. Her work focuses on helping people move through life’s challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and authenticity.
A Little About Me
Julie was raised in Grand Forks BC (a small town girl at heart) before settling in Vancouver to complete her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology. She began her career working with children, youth, and parents in community organizations and schools, where she witnessed firsthand the importance of connection and attachement in fostering resilience. Julie’s deep and innate appreciation for relationships, both the relationship with self and the relationship with others, naturally led her to the field of counselling, where she now helps others build the same sense of connection and emotional strength that she values in her own life. Outside of her work, Julie finds grounding in simple, meaningful moments with her children, family, and friends. Exploring culture and travelling the world or in the quiet stillness of a morning coffee. These moments remind her that connection doesn’t need to be perfect; it simply needs to be genuine.
Background & Experience
Before founding Just Connect Counselling, Julie spent over a decade working with youth, parents and families in community organizations and as a school counsellor at Alternate high school programs working with vulnerable youths and their families. Julie started Just Connect Counselling to offer evidence-based, heart-centered therapy for parents, families and individuals who want to move from reacting and feeling disconnected to responding and feeling connected. She also provides clinical supervision and mentorship for counselling students, helping them cultivate confidence, reflection, and relational attunement.
